Trunk-or-Treat

This evening we attended the annual "Trunk-or-Treat". What's that you ask? In our church, to help promote safe Halloween candy gathering, a night is set aside where all the families gather in the parking lot of the church with decorated car trunks. The cars are parked side by side to make "trunk-or-treating" move quickly. Our car was themed after Hitchcock's "The Birds"... It had bird crap all over it. They also have a few games and dinner.

DramaMama made the "Ghost Chili" from the recipe on Domestic Goddess's blog. It is most excellent.

As tonight was also Drummer Boy's first official date (Homecoming), DramaMama was the one in charge of decorating him in his tux, and getting the "before" shots. She missed most of the Trunk-or-Treat, but did arrive in time to chat with several friends.

I was in charge of the Bear and his friend from school. The Bear was Batman, and his friend was Spider Man. They met up with another friend of the Bear's who was Superman. DramaMama got a picture of the three of them. It may show up here (or on her blog) later.

The first order of business was the dinner which consisted of about 20 selections of chili, and 3 or 4 selections of cornbread. I of course had the ghost chili. I was helping the boys get their food, and carrying their treat buckets. I wasn't paying attention to the level of my own bowl, and accidentally "ghosted" Spiderman's mask and gloves which were in his purple pumpkin candy bucket.

The Bear had a bucket that was Elmo's head. So Batman is gathering candy in an Elmo bucket. Interesting. "Elmo loves the caped crusader!"

With all of the political stuff going on, I was called into work today. I have a great t-shirt for such occasions. It reads: "Let me drop everything and work on your problem." I am so tired, both physically and mentally. This shirt expresses my feelings perfectly. I decided that it would serve well as my costume for this evening as well. I went as an over-worked computer guy.

One of the activities there was a dunk tank. The Bear really enjoyed that. He even hit the target and dunked the guy.

So, even though this has been a horrendous week on pretty much all fronts, I had an enjoyable time this evening.

Another meme pokes me in the arse

This one came by way of my sister the Domestic Goddess.

1. If you make sweet tea, or your favorite style, do you use Luzianne, Lipton or something else?

I don't drink tea. I have when very nauseous taken chamomile tea which settled my innards down.

2. What brand of toilet paper do you buy and is it the larger rolls or regular?
2 ply, gotta be 2 ply. That 1 ply crap takes a whole roll to do the job. Double rolls by Cottenelle are the wipe of choice.

3. Which brand of bath soap do you use?
Usually Dove for that baby's butt softness. I hate orange soap, it scums up the tub and shower.

4. What cereal do you buy for yourself?
When I actually eat breakfast, my favorite cereals are Cheerios and Wheaties. I enjoy Life as well.

5. What brand of dishwasher detergent do you use? Liquid or tablets?
What's that? LOL
We use liquid.

6. What's your favorite fruit?
That depends. Off the tree fresh, I like apples. I usually dont eat pears unless they are already sliced and preserved or rock hard green. I love peaches with cottage cheese. Bananas, oranges.

8. Do you like chocolate?
In small doses. I love brownies though. Back up the brownie truck and let the pounds pile on!

9. Are you right or left-handed?
right, but I'd give my left arm to be ambidextrous!

10. Do you still write checks or use a debit card?
I use the card whenever possible. I hate checks because the bank saves them up and posts them all the same day which is usually right before you get paid and dont have enough money, then they nail you with fees. Did I mention I hate checks?

As an experienced meme-er, I have decided not to pass them along. You are of course free to tag yourself and share your inner most thoughts and feelings with us.
Make sure you tag my sister! :)

Inna Blogga Davida

Hey, everyone!

I want to introduce you to my younger sister's new blog http://musings-of-a-domestic-goddess.blogspot.com .

This is the sister I punched in the mouth, knocking out her loose tooth. The tooth cut my finger (I still have the scar). When she went running to Mom, I beat her there and told her Inna (her current nickname) bit me. She got in trouble.

This is the sister who out of sheer meanness I would not let open the garage door. I held on and pulled it down. The opposing forces twisted the door off one of the runners, and it crashed down on her head. She was loopy for awhile. Since she was out of it, I told Mom and Dad that the garage door just fell off the thing and smacked her. I left out a few key details.

This is the sister who got the raw end of the deal when I ate only part of an apple and threw it in the garbage. Mom found it and confronted both of us. She carried out a scientific investigation by comparing the bites to our teeth. She determined that Inna's teeth matched the bites better than mine, and she was forced to finish the apple.

This is the sister that I hung out with as much as I could when she was in jr. high and high school. For some reason back then I guess I liked her or something. So I would drive her and her friends around a lot.

This is the sister I taught how to fill the gas tank in her new car, because she had never done it before.

This is the sister that I felt no man on earth was worthy to marry. As she grew up, I often pictured myself beaning some poor guy for being mean to her.

This is the sister I have irritated beyond words because of my internet business. She does a wonderful job handling the orders and processing credit cards. She handles a lot of the customer service stuff which I know stinks. She has been doing this for several years, and I hope she knows how much I appreciate all she does.

This is the sister that I feel like I have grown apart from (again because of the business), and wish that I could fix the situation.

So when you have a few minutes, drop by and say hi, and perhaps she'll give you her side of the story. I doubt she remembers a few of these episodes, she was pretty young.

Everyone... Inna. Inna... Everyone.
